  • Syria (2025-present)

Following the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024, Syria faces a critical opportunity to transition from decades of tyranny and war to a future based on justice, accountability and democracy. Without a credible and inclusive process, the country could face another cycle of violence, with millions of Syrians facing uncertain futures. To help prevent this, Crisis Action launched an Emergency Response campaign in January 2025, working closely with Syrian partners invested in ensuring their country moves toward accountability for victims and economic recovery as foundations of a peaceful transition.

Through strategic advocacy and policy briefings, Crisis Action is amplifying Syrian civil society’s demands before key international actors, including the European Union Commission, the European Parliament, and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Our efforts push for justice, accountability, and policies shaped by Syrian expertise, while also advocating for the removal of sectoral sanctions to enable reconstruction. We are also advocating for a clear expression of international support through the UNSC and other UN fora for an inclusive Syrian-led political transition that includes the meaningful participation of women’s groups, as well as the families of the disappeared.

By aligning civil society efforts with international decision-making, Crisis Action is fostering a transition that truly serves the Syrian people, ensuring sustainable peace, and preventing a resurgence of violence. Running from January to June 2025, this campaign remains adaptable to evolving challenges and opportunities.
